奧利維爾·帕斯卡利斯(OlivierPascalis)教授,法國杰出兒童發(fā)展心理學(xué)家和認(rèn)知神經(jīng)科學(xué)家,現(xiàn)任法國國家實驗室格勒諾布爾中心主任,格勒諾布爾阿爾卑斯大學(xué)心理學(xué)與神經(jīng)認(rèn)知實驗室主任,特別是領(lǐng)導(dǎo)建立了法國首個嬰兒認(rèn)知研究實驗室。帕斯卡利斯教授長期從事嬰幼兒視覺認(rèn)知和面孔識別能力發(fā)展方面的研究,在嬰兒面孔處理機制、視覺經(jīng)驗對面孔識別的影響等方面做出了開創(chuàng)性貢獻,在國際頂級期刊上發(fā)表論文170余篇并被廣泛引用,在兒童發(fā)展心理學(xué)和認(rèn)知神經(jīng)科學(xué)領(lǐng)域具有重要影響力。代表性研究成果包括:在《科學(xué)》雜志發(fā)表的關(guān)于嬰兒面孔處理機制特異性的研究,以及一系列關(guān)于視覺經(jīng)驗如何塑造嬰兒面孔識別能力的研究。
Prof.OlivierPascalis,adistinguishedFrenchchilddevelopmentpsychologistandcognitiveneuroscientist,currentlyservesasDirectoroftheGrenobleCenterandtheLaboratoryofInfantCognitionattheNationalLaboratoryofFrance,aswellasDirectoroftheLaboratoryofPsychologyandNeurocognitionatUniversitéGrenobleAlpes.Hehasconductedextensiveresearchonthedevelopmentofvisualcognitionandfacerecognitionininfantsandtoddlers,makingpioneeringcontributionstounderstandingthemechanismsofinfantfaceprocessingandtheinfluenceofvisualexperiencesonfacerecognitionabilities.
Prof.Pascalishaspublishedover170widelycitedpapersintopinternationaljournals,significantlyimpactingthefieldsofdevelopmentalpsychologyandcognitiveneuroscience.HisnotableworksincludeaseminalstudypublishedinScienceexploringthespecificityofinfantfaceprocessingmechanisms,alongwithnumerousstudiesinvestigatinghowvisualexperiencesshapefacerecognitiondevelopmentininfancy.Theseresearchendeavorshavegreatlyadvancedourcomprehensionofdevelopmentalprocessesunderlyinginfantfacerecognition.Additionally,Prof.PascalisspearheadedtheestablishmentofthefirstFrenchLaboratorydedicatedtoInfantCognitionResearch.

Humanscanfindbeautyinbodies,facesorlandscapes.Ithasbeenshownthatwehaveavisualpreferenceforcertainphysicalcharacteristicssuchfacialattractivenesswhichplaysacrucialroleinavarietyofsocialinteractions,fromdatingtovotingbehavior.Judgmentsoffacialattractivenessarelargelysharedbothwithinandbetweencultures.Anillustrationoftheconditionofuniversalitycanbefoundindevelopmentalstudies.Explicitratingsoffacialbeautybyadultspredictedpreferentiallookingtimesinhumaninfantsandinnonhumanprimates.Howcanweexplainthesesimilaritiesbetweenadultjudgmentandpreferentiallookingtimeininfants,ormonkeys?
Iwillreviewtheliteratureinbothhumanandnonhumanprimatesandwilltrytoaddressthequestionofcommonmechanismsinpreferenceforsimilarstimuli.
